Nannies

A nanny will have a childcare qualification or have lots of experience. Nannies have chosen childcare as a career and should offer you high quality, professional childcare. A nanny will be capable of sole charge and will be either live-in or live out. A nanny will be involved in every aspect of your child's care, from organising leisure activities, cooking healthy meals to keeping toys clean and tidy. Hours for each job do vary widely, dependent upon personal requirements and the comprehensive dovetailing of individual family requirements.

A live-out nanny would be within a reasonable commuting distance from the family home and travel there on the days that are  required.

Typical live-out nanny duties may include:

  • Preparing children for school

  • School drop off and pick up

  • Laundry for children

  • Changing children's bedsheets

  • General tidying

  • Supervising homework

  • Preparing meals

  • Arranging play dates

  • Organising appointments

Working Hours

This can be a more flexible approach for you with the days and hours to suit the family's arrangements. This can be from 8-10 hours five days a week to 5 hours for four days a week. It's up to the family to specify their requirements and we will source the ideal candidates who are happy to work around you as a family.

If only a few hours are required each day, a 'Nanny share' with another family works well for both parties, so you may have the mornings while another family benefits from the nanny's services in the afternoons. This can provide additional stimulus for the children as current trends in activities and learning can be replicated for both families benefit.

If you are preparing to interview a live-out nanny, be sure to read our article on how to interview a nanny.

A live-in nanny will typically be expected to work for up to 10 hours a day, usually five days a week but with the flexibility to provide additional evening or weekend babysitting. This flexibility would be expected by any of our prospective candidates.

Typical live in nanny duties can include:

  • Preparing children for school

  • School drop off and pick up

  • Laundry for children

  • Changing children's bedsheets

  • General tidying

  • Supervising homework

  • Preparing meals

  • Arranging play dates

  • Organising appointments

If required, a live-in nanny will be happy to take your children to and from school and oversee responsibility for any after school activities.

As an integral part of the family set up, a live-in nanny will travel with you, if needed, for short term breaks or for that longer summer holiday expedition.
